Q: When is the 52nd ICYPAA?
A: The 52nd ICYPAA will be August 26th-29th, 2010.
Q: What does "young" mean? Are there any age restrictions?
A: There are no age restrictions. You'll meet alcoholics of all ages at the 52nd ICYPAA. "Young" in AA is commonly thought of as having "room to grow".
Q: What will go on at the 52nd ICYPAA?
A: The conference will consist of speaker meetings, panels, workshops, dances, hanging out, meeting new people, and whatever you make of it.
Q: Where will the 52nd ICYPAA take place?
A: New York, NY (Times Square) at the Marriott Marquis hotel.
Q: How much does the hotel room cost per night?
A: The room rate at the Marriott Marquis is $189.00 per night + tax, single through quad occupancy.
Q: How do I get from the airport to the hotel?
A: There are many different ways to get to the hotel from whichever airport you're flying into. Visit our transportation information page for specific details on travelling to Times Square from your destination airport.
Q: Where can I park my car when I get there?
A: The Marriott Marquis has limited parking spaces available. The cost to park at the hotel overnight is $55 for a car, $65 for an SUV, and $80 for an oversized vehicle. There are many other local parking garage options at prices that range from $25-$50 per 24 hours. There is street parking available in Manhattan at no cost if you know where to look for it, pay attention to the signs, and follow the rules.
Q: How can I register for the 52nd ICYPAA?
A: You can register online through our web site, or by printing out a registration flyer here, and mailing it in with payment to the address on the form.
Q: How much does it cost to register?
A: If pre-registering for ICYPAA, the cost is $30. If registering on site, the cost is $35. The cut-off date for pre-registering is August 4th, 2010.
Q: What's a "scholarship"?
A: Some people when registering for ICYPAA add a little extra money beyond the single registration cost in order to help cover the cost of newcomers and people in treatment centers who can't afford to pay the registration fees. Those scholarships are made available by the host committee to people who show up at ICYPAA and request them.
Q: How can I be kept in the loop about the 52nd ICYPAA?
A: Sign up for our email list (at the top right hand corner of the home page) and we'll send you periodic updates on what's going on and what's coming up.
Q: How can I help bring ICYPAA to my city?
A: At each ICYPAA, the next year's conference is awarded to a committee that meets certain requirements and presents its bid to the ICYPAA advisory council. For more information, see icypaa.org.
Q: How can I help out?
A: There are so many ways to do service leading up to and at ICYPAA it's hard to know where to begin. If you're local to the NYC metro area, feel free to come check out our host committee meetings (addresss, etc.here). If you want to get involved in outreach and help pass on ICYPAA information to your local AA community, contact our outreach chair. If you want to make yourself available to do service at ICYPAA, email our volunteers coordinator and we'll find a spot that works for you.
